THE
CLOUD/La Nube
1998, 116
min., Dir. Fernando Solanas
A dark cloud
has settled over Buenos Aires. It has been raining for 1600 days.
Divided into four acts and switching freely between stage and
real life, THE CLOUD tells of the struggle of a group of actors
to save their small independent theatre. Despite the loss of
government support, power cuts and the threat of having the theatre
torn down to make way for a shopping mall, the company carries
on. After all, the show must go on, cries Max (Eduardo Pavlovsky),
the director. But will it...? A fantastic and real fable from
arguably the greatest living Argentine filmmaker, THE CLOUD is
a extraordinary exploration of the intersection between theatre
and reality. English sub-titles.
