The Enlightened Screen: Catherine Martin
June 20, 2013 until June 22, 2013

Welcome to our third instalment of an ongoing screening and guest artist series with Canada’s leading independent filmmakers. The Canadian Film Institute is proud to present the critically-acclaimed, award-winning, and influential filmmaker, Catherine Martin.

Rigorous, poetic, and deeply moving, the films of Catherine Martin constitute one of the most impressive bodies of auteurist cinema in Quebec, continuing the traditions of Jean Pierre Lefebvre, Claude Jutra, Léa Pool, et al alongside her contemporaries Bernard Emond and Denis Côté. This special Enlightened Screen showcase features five films made over 15 years in the remarkable career of this impressive film artist.
