Ottawa: Cinema Capital Launch
August 25, 2017

The Canadian Film Institute is holding a free outdoor screening in Ogilvy Square (on Nicholas Street between Rideau & Besserer) on Friday August 25 from 8pm. This screening features the Ottawa Home Movies Reel, which is a montage made from a selection of home movie footage sent in by members of the public earlier this summer.

This event kicks off “Ottawa: Cinema Capital”, which is a series of screenings that celebrates Ottawa as the first hub of Cinema in Canada. This larger event will showcase films of various types, from documentary, to horror to recent works, and will demonstrate the significance and diversity of the Ottawa film Industry.

Come see how fellow Ottawans have filmed our city, and stay tuned for information on the next event taking place at the end of September until the end of 2017.

This project is funded by Ottawa 2017’s Arts, Culture and Heritage Program (stewarded by AOE Arts Council, Ottawa Arts Council and Council of Heritage Organizations in Ottawa).
