THE BEST OF HOT DOCS
June 16, 2010 until July 18, 2010

Hello Ottawa!

Hot Docs is thrilled to be partnering with the Canadian Film Institute to bring to the nation’s capital some of the outstanding documentary films we’ve presented this past season.

Whether they’re our die-hard festival fans in Toronto, audiences at our Doc Soup Series screenings in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton, or online viewers at HotDocsLibrary.ca, our audiences have taught us one thing: Canadians are passionate about documentaries. And we at Hot Docs are passionate about bringing the world’s best documentaries to you.

In the Canadian Film Institute we’ve found a partner that shares our passion for film and our belief in its power to educate, enlighten and transform. With the Institute’s reputation for superb programming and discerning audiences, Hot Docs is honoured to contribute to its summer slate of films with these compelling titles that showcase the best of what we have to offer.

From a brave Vancouverite facing her mortality with a wicked sense of humour and a lust for life, to estranged migrant families in China struggling with the harsh realities of their rapidly changing society, these stories will engage your hearts and minds.

It’s our privilege to share them with you.

Chris McDonald
Executive Director
Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival

Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival is North America’s largest documentary festival, conference and market, presenting 170+ films and welcoming audiences of over 140,000, including 2000+ international delegates, each year in Toronto. Through the Toronto Documentary Forum, the Canwest-Hot Docs Documentary Funds, and The Doc Shop Online, Hot Docs assists Canadian and international producers in financing and selling their work both during the Festival and year round. Hot Docs’ popular monthly screening series, Doc Soup, regularly plays to sell-out crowds in Toronto, and has recently expanded to Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. The recently launched Doc Library (www.hotdocslibrary.ca) offers free online access to hundreds of Canadian films, while the Festival’s Docs for Schools program gives 60,000+ Ontario students and educators free access to documentaries and teaching resources. The 2011 Festival will take place April 28 - May 8. For more information on Hot Docs and its programs please visit www.hotdocs.ca.
