Café Ex: Canadian Experimental Cinema

Ottawa independent moving image-maker Dave Johnson has produced a number of poetic, daring experimental films. He has also worked as a videographer, assistant director, sound FX engineer, is an award winning location sound recorder. While living in Australia he developed and taught a film class, Introduction to Alternative Cinema, at the Flinders University of South Australia, and screened independent Canadian films to an international audiences. Since his return to Canada, he has worked on various documentary projects, and completed the MFA Program at Concordia University’s Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema in April 2008. 

Most recently, Johnson has worked as the Technical Director at the independent Filmmakers Cooperative of Ottawa, and a freelance sound designer. Currently an active member of the Windows Film Collective, he is also a lecturer on ‘Time Based Art’ at the University of Ottawa, and a producer at SDC video.

Dave Johnson will attend the screening to introduce and discuss his work. Doors open at 7:00pm. Admission is "pay-what-you-can". Cash bar and snacks available.
