Introduced in 2014 and back again for 2017, the Canadian Film Institute is thrilled to announce the return of ¡Fiesta Latina!

With the generous support of GRULA, the coalition of Latin American embassies in Ottawa, we are proud to open this year's 21st Latin American Film Festival with an evening of art, music, dance, food, and drink in celebration of the varied and exuberent culture of Latin America!

On Wednesday, April 12th, join us at Arts Court for ¡Fiesta Latina! and enjoy a wide variety of fare and fun organized by the Canadian Film Institute and provided by Ottawa's own Latin American community, as well as embassies of Latin American nations:
  • gastronomic specialties from local Latin restaurants
  • wine and liquor sampling from a variety of Latin American countries
  • dance performances and demonstrations
  • live musical performances, DJs, and dancing
  • cultural and tourism information on Latin American countries
  • a chance to meet and mingle with musicians, filmmakers, and film lovers
FEATURING PERFORMANCES BY:

DJ RODRIGO - Mexico City born, but now lives in Vieux Hull. Avid music collector who enjoys playing to diverse genres and crowds. Eclectic sounds with a tropical punch are his rhythms of choice.

RÔMMEL RIBEIRO - Singer, songwriter and guitarist, Rômmel Ribeiro was born into a family of accomplished artists in northern Brazil in the mid 1980’s. He grew up surrounded by art and from a young age was inspired by the work of great Brazilian musicians as Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Alceu Valença, Chico César and Lenine.

DANCE, provided by:

ABBY & ALETTA of the GOLDEN FLAME DANCE COMPANY
- A young, dynamic, and energetic company of dancers specializing in hip-hop, Latin, and African dances. They inspire, teach, perform, choreograph, and DJ. 2016 Montreal Salsa Convention three-time Gold Medal winners.

¡Fiesta Latina! will begin at 7:00pm and run into the night, so stop by anytime!
