An adaptation of a popular novel, AMERICAN VISA is an award-winning film about Mario Alvarez, a Bolivian schoolteacher, with dreams of reuniting with his son and starting a new life in the United States.  Mario, however, finds great difficulty in securing a visa and is forced to resort to questionable methods due to harsh laws designed to curb immigration.  Director Valdivia crafts a timely portrait of the post-9/11 political climate and a thoughtful meditation on the human spirit.   English sub-titles.
