WHERE THE ROADS END (DONDE ACABAN LOS CAMINOS)
dir. Carlos Garcia Agraz
Guatemala, 2005, 82 minutes

2008 Latin American Film Festival
Auditorium, 395 Wellington St., Saturday, April 5, 2008, 4:40 pm
The story of two separate yet parallel worlds that finally come together, Where The Roads End is a moving study of racial and ethnic relations. Non-indigenous Dr. Raul Zamora travels from the city to the remote rural region of Atitlan, where he meets and falls in love with Maria, a native. The differences between their two worlds (“Naturals” and “Ladinos”), however, are exploited by the military dictatorship and the repressive habits of their communities. A story of human passion set against the calm of nature. English sub-titles. Includes admission to previous film, Open Heart, 16:00.
