This is a fascinating documentary about Panamanian world boxing champion and national icon Roberto Duran. Told mainly through news and sports archive footage, the film follows the rise and eventual fall of both Duran, who in 1980 challenged American Olympic boxing champion “Sugar” Ray Leonard and won, and Panama, a smaller nation up against incredible odds, such as American occupation. A stirring portrait of heroism and an important lesson in political history outside the ring, Fists of a Nation is a remarkable film. English sub-titles. Admission includes Opaco screening.
