1961. A father and his daughter are trying to meet in Berlin after seventeen years of separation. He is from Soviet Lithuania and she is an émigré living in the United States. Irrespective that there is a “thawing” period in the Soviet Union and the Berlin Wall has yet to be erected, the Cold War is still very chilly. As soon as father arrives in Berlin, undercover employees of the KGB begin taking care of him. They try to entice the daughter to come to the East. She, however, is wary and afraid to step across the boundary line from West Berlin. Will these personal and political tensions prevent them from meeting after all these years? Gripping. BACK TO YOUR ARMS is Lithuania’s official submission to the Best Foreign Language Film category of the 84th Academy Awards 2012. English sub-titles. Followed by opening night reception!
