In a devout Peruvian village during Holy Days, young Madeinusa falls for a gringo stranger against her father’s wishes. Salvador, a young geologist from Lima, unknowingly changes Madeinusa’s destiny, but that part of the plot is only the tip of the iceberg. Madeinusa is a stunningly photographed film that explores a woman’s powerlessness over her life choices and her desire to escape isolation. Llosa inserts fantastical touches, such as dazzling night shots of Holy Days fireworks and silhouetted group dances by the townspeople. Winner of Best Latin American film at the Mar del Plata Film Festival and Best Cinematography at 2006 Cine Ceará - National Cinema Festival.
