Sigur Rós: Valtari Film Experiment
2012, 120 minutes

Auditorium, 395 Wellington St., Saturday, December 8, 2012, 8:00 pm
Iceland’s internationally renowned music sensation Sigur Rós’s latest album, Valtari, arrives with a creative difference. The band gave a dozen filmmakers the same modest budget and asked them to create whatever comes into their head when they listen to songs from the band's new album. The idea is to bypass the usual artistic approval process and allow people utmost creative freedom. Among the participating filmmakers are Ramin Bahrani (Chop Shop, Goodbye Solo, At Any Cost), Alma Har'el (Bombay Beach), and John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Shortbus). The results are as astonishing as the incredible music of Sigur Rós.

This exclusive world premiere program presents the official videos along with added materials.  Ottawa will be one of several select cities to participate in this worldwide launch on the weekend of 7-9 December.

At the screening, you will also be given a unique URL where you can enter to win a deluxe Sigur Rós Valtari  special gift package.  One winner will be selected per continent.

Come and party at this the Canadian Film Institute’s final event of 2012. Reception to follow screening.
