Winner of the prestigious Golden Palm at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, acclaimed director Laurent Cantet’s THE CLASS is a powerful study of a gifted and dedicated teacher’s experience teaching a multi-ethnic class in the 20th arrondissment of Paris.  Based upon the book by and starring Francois Bégaudeau, the film vividly portrays his unorthodox and challenging teaching style while capturing the authenticity of the classroom environment.  THE CLASS is a crowd-pleasing favourite, a cinematic achievement and a profound humanist lesson all in one. This is director Cantet’s second film in the EUFF, his first having been TIME OUT (L’Emploi du temps) in our 2001 edition.
