Master filmmaker Gianni Amelio (OPEN DOORS, LAMERICA, and STOLEN CHILDREN, presented at our 1992 EU Film Festival) returns to the EUFF with his latest film, THE MISSING STAR, a cross-cultural exploration of morality in the modern world.  Sergio Castellitto plays Vincenzo, an Italian engineer who travels to China to correct an oversight in an Italian-Chinese business deal involving a blast furnace sold to China.  On his extraordinary journey through the rapidly industrializing Chinese landscape, Vincenzo befriends his translator, Liu Hua (Tai Ling), who is sceptical of his intentions and the value of his efforts.  THE MISSING STAR is a poignant and profoundly moving story about cultural difference and individual enlightenment.

Dernier film du maître réalisateur Gianni Amelio, THE MISSING STAR est une exploration trans-culturelle de la moralité dans le monde moderne. Sergio Castellitto tient le rôle de Vincenzo, un ingénieur italien qui va en Chine corriger un oubli dans un contrat italo-chinois de haut-fourneau vendu à la Chine. Au cours de ses déplacements dans le paysage chinois en pleine industrialisation, Vincenzo se lie avec son interprète, Liu Hua, qui est sceptique quant à ses intentions.
