A much-celebrated film from Dutch sensation Eddy Terstall, SIMON is a comedy of manners set predominantly on Koh Chang island, a spectacular tropical island off the coast of Thailand. Simon (Cees Geel) is a conventional and straight Amsterdam hash dealer who begins an unlikely friendship with Camiel (Marcel Hensema), a rather timid and gay student of dentistry. After colliding in an accidental meeting, the two reconnect fourteen years later, as Simon is in the process of succumbing to cancer. Camiel learns much from Simon’s strength of character as the two men share life’s tender moments. A film about the true value of friendship and the affirmation of life from one of contemporary Dutch cinema’s most deft directors.
