Set in Nazi-occupied Denmark, THIS LIFE tells the true story of the Fiil family, who, along with members of their community, formed the Hvidsten resistance group in 1943. The narrative begins in 1942 as innkeeper Marius Fiil and his wife Gudrun celebrate their silver wedding anniversary. Over dinner, the conversation turns to the occupation and at what point their freedom is worth fighting -- and possibly dying -- for. Inspiring the Fiils and others to resist, Marius forms an underground network to hide allied soldiers and supplies. This is a story is of extraordinary courage in a desperate time. Celebrated by European audiences, THIS LIFE is one of Denmark’s highest-ever-grossing films, an impressive debut from actress turned director, Anne-Grethe Bjarup Riis.
