Vanda, a young flight attendant from Frankfurt, has just learned that her employer is not renewing her contract. Fond as she is of her boyfriend, she’s not sure if he’s the man she wants to spend her life with. She hardly knows when she last saw her father, and her mother has more or less permanently relocated to the island of Ibiza with her new partner. Vanda decides to visit Magdalena, her beloved and eccentric grandmother who lives in the tiny, disappearing village of Runina in the East of Slovakia. Things soon begin to change.


Vanda, hôtesse de l'air à Frankfort, vient d'apprendre que son employeur ne renouvellera pas son contrat. Elle aime bien son copain, mais n'est pas sûre de vouloir passer sa vie avec lui. Elle se souvient à peine de la dernière fois où elle a vu son père, et sa mère a plus ou moins déménagé à Ibiza avec son nouveau partenaire. Elle décide de rendre visite à Magdalena, son excentrique grand-mère bien-aimée qui vit à Runina, petit village en disparition situé à l'est de la Slovaquie. Le vent tourne bientôt.
