Born
in Beirut, raised in Toronto and now Paris-based, Armenian-Canadian
filmmaker Gariné Torossian’s striking works explore the complex
constructions of personal, cultural, and national identities.

The following interview took place at Library and Archives Canada
on Thursday, January 28 after the CFI's presentation of the restored
35mm print of Atom Egoyan's THE ADJUSTER. The screening and the
interview were organized as part of the official Ottawa launch of Tom
McSorley's book, ATOM EGOYAN'S THE ADJUSTER (University of Toronto
Press, 2009).

Legendary Canadian Filmmaker Frank Cole entered the Guiness Book of World Records
as the first man to cross the Sahara on foot. Meticulous, fearless,
obsessive, and the maker of at least two bonafide masterpieces, there
has never been anything in the cinema like Frank Cole. His murder in
Mali left us with a legacy of two features, a pair of award-winning
short films and a mystery that may never be solved. |
