CFI NEWS AND NOTES: CFI Staffers in Eastern Europe and Western Asia this Month
Wednesday, 06 December 2017

In addition to its presentation and promotion of Canadian cinema in Canada, the Canadian Film Institute is also working hard to expose international audiences to Canada's cinematic riches. This month, two senior CFI staff members will be traveling to Bulgaria and to the Republic of Georgia to present Canadian films and conduct Master Classes on Canada's film history and its current status.

Executive Director Tom McSorley will be in Sofia, Bulgaria, to present "Canadian Film Days," a series of five contemporary feature films, from December 8 to 12. He will also be doing several lectures and interviews about Canadian film while in Sofia.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the Black Sea, Director of Industry Programming Azarin Sohrabkhani is in Georgia attending the Tiblisi International Film Festival as a special guest. She will be giving a talk on contemporary Canadian film production, covering all aspects of the industry, from film co-operatives to feature films and television production to animation.
