Guy Maddin Wishes the CFI a Happy 80th Anniversary!

Our 80th season may be over, but we’re still celebrating by sharing with you all of the kind messages we received from our friends, wishing us a Happy 80th Anniversary.

First coming to Ottawa in 1998, Guy Maddin has brought his work to the CFI several times. In 2011, the CFI hosted Tales from the Gimli Hospital: Reframed, a special event to re-imagine Guy Maddin’s 1988 cult-classic film.

 

 
Gariné Torossian Wishes the CFI a Happy 80th Anniversary!

Our 80th season may be over, but we’re still celebrating by sharing with you all of the kind messages we received from our friends, wishing us a Happy 80th Anniversary.

The first ever Café Ex introduced the experimental films of Gariné Torossian to Ottawa and in 2010, we celebrated her work with the release of the book Elective Identities: The Moving Images of Gariné Torossian and a retrospective screening of her work.

The CFI has celebrated the work of multimedia artist, Donigan Cumming, in many ways over the years, including a retrospective and book release of Splitting the Choir.


 
Atom Egoyan Wishes the CFI a Happy 80th Anniversary!

Our 80th season may be over, but we’re still celebrating by sharing with you all of the kind messages we received from our friends, wishing us a Happy 80th Anniversary.

Academy award nominated filmmaker Atom Egoyan has a long history with the CFI. He showed his first feature, Next of Kin, with the CFI in 1984 and in 2010, attended screenings and Q&As for his film, and the book by Tom McSorley about the film, The Adjuster. Atom has been a great supporter and friend of the CFI.
