As an actress, writer, director, and producer Ingrid Veninger embodies the spirit of an independent Canadian filmmaker. The CFI has celebrated her work with the book, and accompanying screening, Intimacies: The Cinema of Ingrid Veninger.

An ambitious independent filmmaker, Carl Bessai has shown his work to Ottawa with the CFI at The Enlightened Screen and an intimate screening at Club SAW of an unfinished project.

Our 80th season may be over, but we’re still celebrating by sharing with you all of the kind messages we received from our friends, wishing us a Happy 80th Anniversary.

The CFI has hosted many events showing the work of animator, multimedia artist Theodore Ushev and published a book on his work. He’s also been involved with our largest festival, Ottawa International Animation Festival, as a jury member, competitor, and award winner. His latest film, Blind Vaysha, is in this year’s competition.
