Seventeen year old Asher has always been the impuslsive troublemaker. It's hard for him to concentrate and he is compelled by rage and violence; yet he has a considerable amount of charm and street wisdom. While his strict father sees him as a successor to the family's scaffolding business, Asher finds a mentor in his literature teacher and discovers art as a way to understand his world. When tragedy occurs, he struggles to maintain the scaffolding of his life.
